The closure order that had closed the entirety of the RRSNF-administered portion of the Sky Lakes Wilderness has been rescinded, and the closure area has been greatly reduced to allow for access into the southern portion of the Sky Lakes Wilderness. Closure Area Reduced on the Umpqua National Forest Devil’s Canyon Closure Area Shrinks, Some Roads and Trails Re-open ROSEBURG, OR- September 22, 2017 – A revised set of closures for the Umpqua National Forest was released, effective September 22, 2017. The following trails are now open: segments of the North Umpqua Trail #1414, Dread and Terror Trail #1461, Mt. Bailey Trail #1415, Rodley Butte Trail #1452, and West Lake Trail #1452. On the North Umpqua Ranger District, Forest Road 38 near Steamboat will reopen from the junction with Highway 138 to Forest Road 4760. Forest Road 38 will remain closed between Forest Road 4760 and Forest Road 3821. Steamboat Ballfield Group Site is open again. Steamboat Falls and Canton Creek campgrounds will remain closed for the season and reopen in the spring. The Umpqua North Fire Complex involves ten separate wildfires located along 35 miles of the Highway 138 corridor and spread across 179,279 acres of the North Umpqua and Diamond Lake Ranger Districts. Fire acreage over the last few days has not changed from Monday’s 41,139 acres, since infrared over-flights have not been possible. There are a total of 543 firefighters including 172 U.S. Army Soldiers from Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. Transmission lines are being restored by Pacific Power. The utility company...

Acres: 30,251 Acres Containment: 10 percent Personnel: 25 Resources assigned: 1 crews, 1 engine Type 4 Incident Management Team Most work on the Bearskin Fire was completed by the end of shift Saturday, September 16. A second National Incident Management Organization (NIMO) Team was managing the fire since September 11. On Monday, September 18, the local unit resumed management of the fire.A small workforce of 1 crew and 1 engine will remain in the area for monitoring operations until the fire is in contained and controled status.One engine will patrol along County Road 579 on the west side of the fire. The east side of the fire is quiet and also in patrol status. 3-6 inches of snow and rain fell in the fire area during the week of September 18-22. Orleans, CA September 22, 2017Current Fire Situation: The Orleans Complex is currently 27,276 acres and is 66% complete. The Haypress Fire, the largest in the complex, has burned 21,127 acres and is 23% complete. Fire crews are continuing to emphasize working on direct line, water bars and suppression repair in addition to locating, pulling and removing surplus hose and pumps. Cool, moist weather conditions over the past few days have been aiding the firefighting efforts. Repair work has begun on some dozer lines and roads in the northern section of the fire. Safety: Increase in precipitation, rock and mud slides and debris have been creating potentially hazardous driving conditions for fire crews. Hunting season is currently open and portions of the Six Rivers and Klamath National Forests are closed. Contact your local ranger station for current closure information. 9-22-2017 The Boise National Forest Bearskin Fire Area Closure within the Lowman District has been reduced, opening more roads, due to a decrease in fire activity. The modified closure – Version #5 - goes into effect Friday, Sept. 22, and shall remain in effect until Dec. 15, 2017, unless rescinded earlier by the Forest Supervisor.
