Kaibab South Zone RX Fire (Prescribed Fire)

Operations are currently occurring on four prescribed fire projects on both the Williams and Tusayan Ranger Districts. Ignitions are implemented in different areas only when favorable weather conditions exist allowing for desirable burning effects and where smoke impacts can be minimized in rural areas. Crews are currently working on the Hardy and Dry Lake projects on the Williams Ranger District, and the Reed Project on the Tusayan Ranger District. The Sunflower project is scheduled to begin early next week. Smoke management will remain a top priority to minimize impacts to roadways, business and residential areas. The flowing project areas are scheduled for treatments: Green Base Dry Lake Project: Thirteen burn units northeast of Williams, north of I-40 and east of Highway 64 near Pittman Valley.
