Lake Christine Fire Update, August 11, 2018 (Lake Christine Fire Wildfire)

Wildland Fire Incidents - Sat, 08/11/2018 - 13:59
Rehabilitation Efforts Take Center Stage as Heat of the Fire Remains Interior Current Situation: Due to an increase in temperatures, a decrease in humidity and the ever-present afternoon wind gusts there was a slight increase in several small columns of smoke yesterday. All were well within the perimeter of the fire line which varies from several feet wide in light grassy fuels, to a width of more than 130 feet in places where the line intersects heavy timber. Some fire crews are taking advantage of the cooler morning temperatures today to assist in rehabilitation efforts until approximately 1:00 P.M. These actions include removing and flattening berms and disbursing brush piles. Special attention will be paid to Thompson Creek where they will be working to improve the area around the creek by restoring the stream bank as needed and diverting water in an attempt to keep silt out of the water. Other “After fire” operations will include rehabilitation of the 41 miles of handline...
