HVO Kilauea ORANGE/WATCH - Weak lava activity from Fissure 8; Summit quiet.

USGS Volcano Current Alerts - Wed, 09/12/2018 - 16:31
Sep 12, 2018 18:26 - Kīlauea summit and lower East Rift Zone On Kīlauea Volcano's lower East Rift Zone (LERZ), minor amounts of incandescence were observed overnight from a collapse pit within the fissure 8 cone. Very minor fuming is visible from a small spatter cone located towards the back of the cone. Since the beginning of September, small lava flows have been observed within the fissure 8 cone, however none have extended outside the walls of the cone. Seismicity and ground deformation remain low at the summit of Kīlauea. Aftershocks from the magnitude-6.9 earthquake in early ...

AVO Great Sitkin YELLOW/ADVISORY - Unrest continues. Small earthquakes recorded. No activity seen in satellite data.

USGS Volcano Current Alerts - Tue, 09/11/2018 - 15:31
Sep 11, 2018 19:43 - Low-level unrest continues at Great Sitkin Volcano. Earthquake activity remains elevated. No significant activity was observed in satellite images. Great Sitkin Volcano is monitored with a local real-time seismic network, which will typically allow AVO to detect changes in unrest that may lead to an explosive eruption. Rapid detection of an ash-producing eruption would be accomplished using a combination of seismic, infrasound, lightning, and satellite data.

AVO Veniaminof ORANGE/WATCH - Seismicity remains elevated. Lava fountaining and lava flow from summit cone.

USGS Volcano Current Alerts - Mon, 09/10/2018 - 16:30
Sep 10, 2018 21:04 - High-resolution satellite imagery acquired yesterday shows a lava flow roughly 800 meters (0.5 miles) long on the south flank of Veniaminof volcano's summit cone. Eruptive activity was corroborated by witnesses aboard the Alaska State Ferry Tustumena, who observed lava fountaining and an active lava flow when passing by Veniaminof early this morning. Elevated seismic activity, nighttime incandescence in webcam images, and elevated surface temperatures in thermal satellite data have not changed significantly over the past several days, suggesting that this eruptive ...
