Two arrested in Salisbury on suspicion of class A drug supply

Wiltshire Police (UK) - Tue, 11/07/2017 - 18:25

Two men were arrested in Salisbury today on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

Officers from the Dedicated Crime Team, were carrying out a welfare check at an address in Exeter Street today when they located the two men – one aged 21 from London and another aged 22 from Salisbury.

Approximately 50 wraps of class A drugs were located within the premises as well as £1,300 cash and a stolen bike.

Inspector Pete Sparrow said: “Officers were attending the address in relation to cuckooing – which refers to a vulnerable persons home being taken over by drug dealers who see it as a safe place to deal drugs without being noticed by police. The vulnerable people living at the address are often threatened and unable to leave their homes.

“Today’s arrests show that we are working hard to identify individuals who travel to our city to exploit vulnerable people who struggle with their addiction. Alongside our partners, we will continue to protect the vulnerable and make Salisbury an unattractive place for those people who are intent on dealing misery and creating a demand for other crimes to be committed.’

The two men remain in custody at Melksham police station.

If you suspect drug activity in your area, please call 101.
