VMERU Current Capability
Volunteer Mobile Emergency Response Unit (VMERU) approaches 2010 with low material resource levels.
A busy Summer has eaten into VMERU's stores and with Spring fund raisers and warmer weather months away the unit is ready for brief deployments but the "big one" will need a resource build-up or outside logistical ground support.
So what can we do if the call comes today? (Read more)
- Emergency Scene Rehab in the Central Texas area for type 3, 4 or 5 incidents, for a single or several operational periods.
- First Aid Station (Medical Unit) for Base, Camp, or Staging Area , to provide care for minor injuries and with a supply of OTC medication -- for incident personnel. The response trailer is currently deployable in the Central Texas area for type 2, 3, 4 or 5 incidents, for a single or several operational periods. We can provide First Aid and make OTC meds available. Deployment beyond Central Texas at this time will require outside logistical ground support for Diesel Fuel, Gasoline (for the unit's Generator) and Propane for heating.
The response trailer would be considered a Tier II resource (as it is not nationally deployable and would only be available within the State of Texas, but primarily within Central Texas.
In terms of resource typing:
Category – health and/or medical in support of firefighting, law enforcement or health and medical missions.
Kind - Medical Unit (First Aid)
Type – Type II, capable of providing first aid services for a responder population of up to 200 headcount.
The unit would be staffed with 1 to 4 individuals who are trained to a minimum level of First Aid. The unit leader would be an EMT-I or above.
